ACWA Power to showcase its leading role in driving global energy transition at WETEX 2021

ACWA Power, a leading developer, investor and operator of power generation, green hydrogen and desalinated water plants worldwide, will showcase its portfolio of leading renewable energy at the 23rd Water, Energy, Technology and Environment exhibition (WETEX) as a Jubilee Sponsor. This year’s edition will take place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020 Dubai - the first international Expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia and one of the first major events in the world since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cementing its role as a global accelerator of energy transformation, this year at WETEX 2021, ACWA Power will be exhibiting its record-breaking projects in the UAE that played an instrumental role in lowering tariff levels in the global renewable energy and water desalination sectors and opened new opportunities in energy efficiency and water production. The milestone projects will include Shuaa Energy 1, (MBR Solar Park Phase II); Noor Energy 1 (MBR Solar Park Phase IV), Shuaa Energy 3 (MBR Solar Park Phase V); Umm Al Quwain IWP; and Taweelah IWP, the largest desalination project in the world.

Abunayyan also highlighted that ACWA Power’s participation at this year’s edition will emphasise on the company’s efforts to lead the energy transition globally to enable the economic, social and environmental sustainability plans for countries and communities.

ACWA Power is partaking in five leading seminars during WETEX this year. Rajit Nanda, Chief Portfolio Management Officer and Acting Investment Officer, is joining a session alongside industry experts to discuss the future of solar energy in the Middle East.

Bart Boesman, Chief Technology Officer at ACWA Power will run a seminar on Disrupting, Emerging and Innovating Technologies in Energy, Water and Environment while Alvaro Perez, Chief Digital Officer at ACWA Power, will lead a robust session on how digitalisation is applied to decarbonisation and the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in renewables.

Meriem Bellizem, Business Development, Senior Manager at ACWA Power will run a session on empowering women to take leading role in the energy transition. Finally, Dr. Andrea Lovato, Vice President and Head of Renewables Development at ACWA Power will lead a session on renewable energy being a catalyst for rapid decarbonisation.

With a constantly evolving portfolio of clean energy plants, ACWA Power has been a prominent contributor to the development, investment, and operation of renewable energy plants internationally, with 77% of its current global portfolio utilising low carbon or renewable energy sources.

The 23rd WETEX and the Dubai Solar Show (DSS) will be held from 5 to 7 October 2021 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo 2020 Dubai. The event will address important topics on rapid changes and challenges in the energy, water and environment sectors in addition to exploring best practices and green solutions to counter environmental challenges.
