ITF launches Technology Showcase 2015 call for papers

Operators and innovators to discuss solutions to drive down costs and increase efficiency

2015 01 07 105614The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF), the organisation driving oil and gas technology development in the UK, is holding its Technology Showcase 2015 with a focus on innovation which will reduce costs and improve efficiency.

The event, which comprises both a conference and an exhibition, will articulate and discuss current technology challenges for the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS) and enable technology innovators to showcase their technology.

The call for papers is now open at http://showcase.itfenergy.com, providing a platform for companies to showcase its latest developments. The deadline for submissions is 16th January 2015.

A host of senior representatives from operators and major service companies will give their views on pressing industry issues in a series of presentations to be delivered at the conference on 4th March at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The conference programme includes presentations about the challenges to unlocking remaining reserves and parallel interactive sessions in which operating companies and developers will highlight specific technology needs and solutions for discussion.

The four key focus areas are:

• Drilling Efficiency, Well Intervention and Abandonment

• Efficient Water Injection, Handling and Processing

• Better Imaging, Targeting & Recovering our Reserves

• Digital Monitoring, Robotics and Autonomous Systems

Exhibiting at the 2015 Technology Showcase will give technology innovators the opportunity to be part of an industry-supported, collaborative event that will showcase their pioneering technologies and R&D capabilities to key individuals from operating companies and strategic industry groups.

Dr Patrick O’Brien, CEO of ITF said: “We look forward to welcoming developers and key figures in the industry and discussing how we can collaborate and develop technology to drive down costs and increase efficiency in the sector. Innovation is crucial for the industry but without support it can prove to be too much of a risk for smaller companies to tackle.

“The Technology Showcase provides the opportunity to hear from operators about the challenges and opportunities of implementing new technology as well as a networking platform where the most innovative ideas can be discussed and brought forward.

“The Showcase has the wide support of the industry. The event is again this year being held in collaboration with Oil & Gas UK and has the support of a number of key industry and government organisations.”

Paul White, Director of Subsea Technology at GE Oil & Gas and a member of the Showcase Technical Committee, added: “The ITF Technology Showcase has a proven track record of bringing together a broad range of industry stakeholders as well as technology developers and technology users. It is an excellent platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas on some of the most important topics currently influencing our industry.”

There are a number of opportunities for technology and academics to showcase their innovations direct to key figures in both the operator and supply chain sectors.
