Jacobs Engineering Group
 and Pfizer Inc. are to jointly develop a modular process system for localised pharmaceutical manufacturing in emerging market countries. This will link Pfizer’s aseptic drug product process expertise and Jacobs’ capabilities in modular engineering, fabrication, and testing to create a 'rapid deployment module' that integrates modular equipment, automated control systems and single-use technology for bags, mixers, sterile connectors, manifolds and filters.

Shell has begun production from the Mars B development through Olympus – its seventh, and largest, floating deep-water platform in the Gulf of Mexico. It is the first deep-water project in the Gulf to expand an existing oil and gas field, it is expected to extend the life of the greater Mars basin to 2050 or beyond. Combined future production from Olympus and the original Mars platform will deliver an estimated 1bn barrels of oil equivalent, Shell said 4 Feb.

KBR has been awarded a contract for the basic design development for Heerema Offshore Services' large new semisubmersible crane vessel (NSCV). Subsidiary GVA completed seven months of feasibility and conceptual studies on the NSCV in 2013. The basic design phase of the new vessel will cover the major part of 2014, KBR announced 4 Feb.

KBR on 14 Jan announced a five-year master services agreement with DuPont Engineering to provide EPCM services for most DuPont facilities in the US and Mexico. This extends a long-standing EPCM services support of DuPont facilities in the US Northeast region. With a recently awarded industrial services contract, KBR will now provide comprehensive engineering, procurement, construction management, and continuous construction and maintenance services for most DuPont manufacturing sites in the US.

One of the largest energy providers in Poland is looking for a company to modernise operating systems in one of its heat and power station. The selection criteria is: Price 45%; Guarantee 10%; System maintenance costs 10%; Points sum (functionality assessment) 25%; rbg price ranges 5%. The response deadline is 11 March 2014. Two new boiler feed water pumps with variable speed drives and electric motors are required to stabilise the pressure fluctuation in the common supply header, and equalise BFW distribution to individual boilers of a power plant in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The coal-fired steam unit is of Russian origin and started operations in 1983. It comprises eight boilers, each having a capacity of 420 t/h at 560C and 140 bar, six 80-100MW extraction condensing turbines. Response deadline 12 March 2014. UKTI details - external site.

One of the largest Brazilian contractors is developing the largest sanitation project in Brazil, in the north east of the country, and is seeking to identify UK companies who can provide technologies in sewage treatment systems. The project aims to provide sewage treatment services for 3.7m habitants in 14 municipalities and guarantee treatment for all sewage collected. Response deadline 10 March 2014. Foster Wheeler is offering clients operating its circulating fluidised-bed (CFB) steam generators a method for converting ash into product for stabilisation and remediation of soils and land areas or as an aggregate or fill for road and civil construction. The move follows a deal with LA Ash Products and Services. LA Ash is to condition the ash using its proprietary process developed by LA Ash and sell it to construction and environmental remediation companies.

Bechtel is designing and building the facility, also known as the Vit Plant, for the US Department of Energy. When complete, the plant will treat 56m gallons of radioactive waste stored in underground tanks in Washington state. Watch a company video of the progress.

Chinese steelmaker Taiyuan Iron and Steel Ltd (TISCO) has selected Broner to roll out its real-time caster and steel plant scheduling solutions to cover new equipment at two plants in TaiYuan city, ShanXi province, China. Broner has a long standing customer relationship with TISCO, and its 'caster scheduler', 'melt shop control centre', and 'schedule editor modules' have been in production in at TISCO since 2006.

One of the largest oil companies in Poland is looking for specialised pit-drilling equipment, including pumps, cables and modules, along with appropriate certificates. The tender is split into two parts: Supply of six complete sets of pit-drilling equipment: Supply of six complete sets of pit pumps, along with ESP. The deadline for responses in 9 Feb. Air Products
is to supply main cryogenic heat exchangers for the Yamal LNG project. Under an deal with a consortium including Technip and JGC Corp, three of its MCR units will be employed wiithin the propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant liquefaction process. Each of these units using Air Products LNG process technology and equipment will produce 5,500ktpa of LNG, for the overall 16,500ktpa three-train facility.

Dubai Petroleum Establishment has signed up Technip for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the Jalilah B field development project, 90km offshore Dubai, at water depth reaching 60m. The scope includes the Jalilah B platform, a 900-tonne deck, a 500-tonne jacket, 13 new risers on existing platforms and 110km of pipelines. Technip’s center in Abu Dhabi will execute the project for completion in the second half of 2014.
